This Sunday 7th April is designated World Health Day. And at Curves our goal is to help women lead healthier lives, by giving them all the tools they need to succeed. This date is a special day in the calendar and we want to celebrate it with you. Each year, the World Health Organisation (WHO) focuses on a health topic that has as much global impact as possible – and in 2019, the spotlight is shining on universal health coverage. This means ensuring that everyone can obtain the health care they need, when they need it, no matter where they are.
While progress is being made, millions of people have no access at all to health care and millions more are forced to make the choice between heath care and other daily essentials like food, clothing or even a roof over their heads.
How to stay healthy and feel great!
Remember the importance of a healthy and balanced breakfast. Find the time to do it every morning, even when you're in a hurry, and dedicate at least 20 minutes.
Always look for tricks to move during the day, even while working from home. Do not use the car for short journeys, avoid escalators and elevators, get off the bus or subway one stop earlier to walk longer!
Don't underestimate the importance of sleep for your health. Sleep the right number of hours per night and improve the quality of your rest thanks to physical activity!
Did you know that our metabolism slows down with age? There are two ways to reactivate it naturally: exercise and nutrition. Spend 30 minutes a day at your Curves session to improve muscle tone and burn more calories! At the table, instead, choose metabolically friendly foods to speed it up: dried fruit, eggs, legumes, salmon and dark chocolate.
Remember to make movement. Regular physical activity not only reduces the risk of certain diseases, but also improves mood and self-esteem. And with our training program, you won't even have to change your routine: you only need 30 minutes!
Drink at least 1l and ½ of water a day to maintain the body's proper hydration level and keep fit.
Set yourself moments just for yourself. It will help you to become more aware of the bond between body and mind, ordering your priorities.

- Reduced risk of breast and colon cancer: cancer starts when cells divide too much, mutate and multiply out of control. Physical activity reduces the levels of estrogen – which could encourage cells in the breast to divide more often – so regular exercise could help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. Working out also creates a more efficient gastrointestinal system by altering inflammatory and immune factors that influence colon cancer risk.
